I went out to the Navy Base today and visited Barrancas National Cemetery. When I pulled up to the grounds one funeral was ending. As I was walking around, a second funeral arrived. As I was leaving the base, a third funeral procession was heading toward the grounds. I have no idea if this is an everyday occurrence or if today was somehow out of the ordinary but it reminded me that every one of those headstones represented a real person with a family and friends and stories to tell.
