![]() If you're gonna' grab a shark, that's the end you want. We went to the beach this weekend down by the entrance to Ft. Pickens. Absolutely beautiful day. We were lugging our stuff, looking for a good place to plop down for the day when we noticed these guys fishing. We were going to walk on down the beach because rumor has it, sharks hang out around where people fish. Just then, the guy in the gray hat hooks something. His rod bows way over. He's got something big so we stick around to see what comes up. When it got a few feet from the shore, we realized it was a shark. They got it up on the sand and a few people, including me and the Butler girls, gathered around to check it out. Not too close though. After a few photos and carefully removing the hook, the guys pulled the shark back to the water and let it go. That's what you see here. We didn't really go in the Gulf after that. We played in the shallow pools instead but we had a blast. About a half hour later, these guys were out waist deep in the Gulf, still fishing. (Thanks to Joe and MeMe for lending me the long lens. That's the only way to shoot a shark. This shot is not that close, but I was able to get some extreme close-ups of the fins and eyes. Freaky stuff.)
