 J1 and J3 bouncing behind the boat. A couple of kids having fun. Tomorrow there may be a photo of yours truly on the tube. Maybe. Did I ever tell you about the time I played basketball with Emmitt Smith? I think I've talked about this here before so I'll be brief. Back in the mid 90's when Emmitt and I were each in our athletic prime, our paths crossed. In a small YMCA gym in downtown Pensacola, we spent an entire afternoon playing basketball. Five on five, full court, real deal basketball. We even spent one entire game guarding each other. Awesome. At least for me. I'm sure he has no recollection of the day but I on the other hand told everyone I knew over and over until it became the punchline that needed no joke. "Did I ever tell you about the time I played basketball with Emmitt Smith? " Groans and laughter followed. I tell you that to tell you this. Emmitt Smith was in "Little Giants" with Rance Howard. Rance Howard was in "Apollo 13" with Kevin Freakin' Bacon. BAM! 3 degrees of separation. Yesterday a Pulitzer Prize winning author. Today a future Hall of Famer. Such is the power of Bacon. (I know this is sooo 10 years ago but it's still fun. The Oracle of Bacon) And now for a complete downshift. I found out today that LeRoi Moore died yesterday. Founding member of the Dave Matthews Band and saxophonist extraordinaire. I'm going to spend the rest of the night with headphones on and my eyes closed just getting lost in those sweet sweet sounds.
