![]() Imagine Circle in Central Park's Strawberry Fields. WARNING: Philosophical mumbo-jumbo to follow. Proceed at your own risk. I was a little upset on this trip to Strawberry Fields to find a fence around the Imagine Circle. Talk about smack you in your face symbolism. It looked like there had been some vandalism. Some tiles were broken and missing and they had put up barricades like they use to block streets for parades. I couldn't imagine what kind of low life would vandalize such a beautiful memorial in such a beautiful place. Are there really people out there who are that thoughtless and uncaring. Then I remembered why the memorial was there in the first place. So at first I was a little ticked off that I couldn't get my picture postcard shot of the circle. All clean and unbroken and perfect. But the more I thought about it the more I thought that this is better. Life's not perfect and people aren't perfect but we have to make the best of what we have. An imperfect Imagine Circle is still pretty amazing. WARNING: The following videos contain subject matter some may find offensive. Proceed at your own risk. George Carlin died this week. A comedian who made me laugh until I hurt. Quite a few tributes out there. Here's one I like. George Carlin Common Expressions And another. A wordsmith extraordinaire. George Carlin Modern Man And plenty more to choose from on YouTube. Posted by blbutler on June 24th, 2008 Archived under: Color, Travel, Wordplay |
