![]() One of my favorite things about the photoblog world is the constant inspiration. I’m always getting ideas for shots I’d like to try while I’m surfing around. Some are ideas I just keep in the back of my head in case they come up. Some are shots I actively pursue. This is a form of the latter. There’s a quote by Robert Graves about Shakespeare I’ve always liked. “The remarkable thing about Shakespeare is that he is really very good - in spite of all the people who say he is very good.” That’s how I feel about David Nightingale at Chromasia. He has one of the most visited photoblogs on earth and there’s good reason. He’s changed the way I see photography and the world. He’s done other’s in the past but this last week he shot a series of long exposure pier shots that were amazing. So tonight I went out to try for myself. This one is about four and a half minutes. The light trail under the pier on the lower left is a huge dredging barge moving across the horizon. The biggest challenge turned out to be trying to focus on something I could barely see but I got a couple of shots sharp. Let me know what you think.
