![]() Now I don’t want to be one of those people who has to put things in categories. Let’s call them categorizers. So that would put me in the non-categorizer group. That being said, some of my favorite shots fall somewhere near the category of “abstract landscape” or in my case, “abstract seascape”. I love it when the light and the shapes and the colors of an image hit me first and then I realize what the subject is. It’s sort of a “Wow, that’s pretty. Oh, I see what it is” kind of thing. Happens in an instant. If it’s so abstract it’s unrecognizable, that's not as strong. If it's an average, obvious postcard shot, it's pretty but you're moved more by the place than the image. Shots like this one, “Cool Morning”, “Into the Light”, 'Where the Boats Sleep' and “Silver Lining” really get me going. Shots where the light is the subject. Maybe it’s just me but I’ve got to find ways to capture more shots like these. I still love shooting birds and other things but this is when I have the most fun.
